Ty Hen, “Old House” in English, was named this because it would have been the original Pencefn dwelling four or five hundred years ago. It is believed to date back to the 1600’s.
It is a single storey house now but would have originally had people living in crog lofts upstairs with the animal’s downstairs. However, we believe that authenticity can be carried too far so we have omitted the animals whilst using some of the old original roof timbers to ensure that the ambience of times gone by is preserved.
The lounge and dining room both have timbered walls with the cosy living room having huge beams in the vaulted ceiling. There is a beautifully classic stained glass window between the lounge and dining room, this was hand made by the son of the previous owners especially made for Ty Hen.
Cooking in the kitchen can take a long time if you spend too much of it gazing at the beautiful view down Cwm Main valley from the window while you prepare the meal!
This view can also be enjoyed from Ty Hen’s patio and what better way to spend a summer evening than in this magnificent setting, with a glass of wine and good company. Dog loving guests are sure to be joined by our lovely cocker poo if encouraged.
Sleeping arrangements are catered for in one double and one twin bedroom.
There is a modern bathroom with ‘P’ shaped bath with power shower. Hot water is supplied by biomass boiler, ensuring a plentiful supply.
