Pen Cefn is a stones throw away from Bala in Southern Snowdonia, it is a perfect base to tour the area which provides a multitude of fun, interesting or relaxing activities.

Pen Cefn Cottage Holidays is situated in a quiet, beautiful location above the hamlet of Sarnau with magnificent views down the valley, along Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) with the Aran mountains to the left, the Arenig mountains to the right and Cadair Idris Mountain range in the distance.  

Apart from each of the private cottage gardens there is another garden for all guests to enjoy, this has two ponds, plenty of seating and an ideal spot for relaxing, or studying wild life. The wildlife visitors includes endless varieties of tiny creatures and plant life and many species of birds in different seasons. There is also a playing field for children with seating where panoramic views of the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed.     

There are many beautiful walks in the immediate area.  A short stroll up the hill takes you to Caerau Uchaf Gardens or to Llyn Caer Euni, a small mountain lake. You may also wish to venture further on forest paths or to the ancient Hill Fort of Caer Euni with a picnic. 

Pen Cefn is ideally situated for touring North Wales. It is within an hour's spectacular drive of most of the North and West Wales coastal resorts, as is the massive Snowdon Mountain Range perfect for fabulous walking or a ride to the summit of Snowdon on the famous railway.

Bala itself is approximately 5 minute’s drive away. It is an attractive and lively historic market town, within the boundaries of the Snowdonia National Park where there are interesting shops, inns and restaurants. Bala is situated on the shores of Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales and home of a unique fish, the Gwyniaid which dates back to the Ice-Age. Alongside the lake runs a charming narrow-gauge steam railway.

The Bala region is brimming with activities if you want more than a lazy, tranquil and quiet countryside holiday. 

Sailing, kayaking, canoeing, walking, cycling, rafting, mountain biking, horse riding, fishing, golf, surfing, slate mine trampolining, extereme zip wiring, indoor play ventres, coasteering, castles, beaches, quad biking, climbing, go karting and llama safaris, to say the very least!

There is also a cinema, pottery painting and Leisure Centre with indoor swimming pool in Bala.
