There is lots going on at Pen Cefn. All of our projects will mean that the cottages will benefit from new and upgraded amenities. Please don't be afraid. All projects are being planned around your stays and to ensure that there is very little disruption to your holiday.
The concrete base for a new workshop has been laid. This workshop will house the new 6000 litre water tank for Pencefn, ensuring constant mains water. It will also allow us to fit a new drying room for our guests that like to get wet whilst they are here, and for those that don't you could perhaps dry your washing.
This month the laundrette has been refurbished with a new tiled floor and a lick of paint. Tirion and Aran have also offered to share all of the DVDs that they have collected over the last 13 years with our guests. There are so many that we had to put up a set of new shelves too.
Ty Gwennol, Ty Hen & Llaethdy are now heated by the biomass boiler. Out with the old unfriendly storage heaters and oil boiler, in with the new renewable energy boiler
Our new Biomass boiler has been installed and commissioned. It is fuelled by wood pellets and for every tree burnt up to 3 new trees are planted.
This month saw the drive relaid after the last one was washed away during the harsh winter storms. We also installed a new land drain in hope that it didn't happen again...
Refurbished Ty Hen. New bathroom, kitchen, linen and carpets through out. This time the last bit of carpet was laid 2 days before the first guests to experience the updated Ty Hen arrived.
Bev had me put up a pergoda and made a calm and tranquil seating area up in the garden for our guests to enjoy. This area is called 'Dad's place - Gone sailing' in memory of her late father who died in February 2012. He loved to watch birds, garden and hang about in hammocks. He would have loved this place just as much as we do.
Refurbished Ty Gwennol. New bathroom, kitchen, linen and carpets through out. The last bit of carpet was laid just 2 hours before the first guests to experience the updated Ty Gwennol arrived. They didn't even notice and had a fantastic week. Phew...
November - December 2012
We spent 2 months cutting back trees, bushes and hedges.
Bev, Tirion, Aran, Lola and I moved into Pencefn and embarked on our new adventure. We are living our dream.
